Governor of NSW, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir, opened the new $3.6 million Tweed River Regional Art Gallery before an enormous crowd of more than 1500 people.
"The afternoon was warm, the mood enthusiastic. It felt as though the entire community had united in spirit to celebrate art and be part of history in the making. The gallery and its facilities are world class, as is the spectacular setting capturing an outlook over the beautiful Tweed Valley with its dramatic landmark of Mt Warning. It was a privilege to be among so many warm hearted and genuine art lovers." Jo Palaitis, 3/2/2004
