 Josonia Meets Princess Mary

Josonia Palaitis and her son Lew Palaitis attended the opening of the 'Australian Visit' exhibition at the historic Frederiksborg Castle north of Copenhagen on April 7 2006.

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary were the guests of honour.  The princess unveiled her new official portrait by Ralph Heimans.  Andrew Sayers, Director of the NPG and Marilyn Darling, chair of the board of the NPG were among the speakers.  Interludes of music for piano and trumpet by Percy Gainger added to the programme's Australian theme.

Afterwards at a reception for the invited guests Josonia and Lew chatted with Prince Frederik and Princess Mary in a relaxed setting.

"The Prince was very interested in my portrait of the Howards.  I explained that the water view in the background was of Sydney Harbour," said Josonia Palaitis.

Other Australian artists at the opening were Ralph Heimans, Jaiwei Shen, Ann Holt, Karin Catt and Ben Baker.
